Roman Pilipey is a Ukrainian photojournalist working for the European Pressphoto Agency (EPA). He is currently based in Beijing, China. Roman began his career working as a freelance photojournalist for different Ukrainian news agencies and newspapers while studying at the Institute of Journalism of Kiev National Taras Shevchenko University. In 2013 Roman began to freelance for EPA during the Euromaidan revolution and in 2014 he joined EPA as a staff photographer. He was based in Kiev from where he covered news events and conflicts in eastern Ukraine. In 2017, Roman relocated to Beijing to join the EPA’s China bureau.

His photographic works have been published in major newspapers and international magazines including The New York Times, Time, The Times, Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, The Boston Globe, El Pais, Stern and others.

In 2014 he was awarded the 3rd place in the category “International News” of the NPPA Best of Photojournalism Contest. In 2016 Roman attended The Eddie Adams Photography Workshop in USA.
