The Euromaidan Revolution or Revolution of Dignity was a wave of protests in Kyiv, Ukraine, which started at the end of November 2013 and lasted for several months, culminating into deadly civil unrest. It originated with public protests on Kyiv's Independence Square demanding a closer integration within Europe. The movement was a reaction to the refusal of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to sign a European Union - Ukraine Association Agreement. Protesters called for the resignation of Yanukovych and his members of cabinet, accusing them of being corrupted and blocking Ukraine’s integration within the European Union.

Yanukovych and several high government officials fled the country in February 2014 after a violent police crackdown on protesters left at least 100 people dead. As a result of the Euromaidan movement, Ukraine is now moving closer towards a shared future with the European Union.
